Our Story

Introducing Ian (Ox) McColl.

For as long as I can remember I have made objects out of clay. Small cars and racing tracks in the clay around the dams on my family’s farm, at school, and then once shown how to use the pottery wheel – It completely hooked me in!  It has been a lifelong journey.

I have explored many opportunities within the pottery world. From building a wide variety of kilns, to working with potters both in Australia and overseas. Many years have been spent honing the skills needed to be able to produce high quality pottery.

From the Studio in Darley, Oxart produces a wide variety of pottery products and operates a vibrant pottery school. The range of functional pottery items produced is designed to be used on a daily basis, mugs, plates, platters and teapots are just a few of the items.  All products from OXART pottery are dishwasher, microwave and oven proof.

 Oxart @ Taradale.

Oxart has recently purchased a new studio in Taradale, which is located on the Old Calder Hwy - 10 mins north of Kyneton and just 5 mins onward from Malmsbury. It is an old service station, which will become our base for a variety of small group workshops and regular lessons. We are currently in the planning stages of sculpture, painting, printmaking and drawing workshops.

We have a gallery/shop that is open on weekends and some weekdays where you can purchase beautiful Oxart pots as they come in from the kiln.   Our teaching workshop is also open and running with both adult and children's classes.  You can book by visiting the 'Pottery Classes' page above.

It is an exciting new venture, which we are looking forward to sharing with everyone in the near future.  Please pop in and say hello!
